If this view is correct, It might be wise for the opponents of the liquor traffic to sit back and wait until prohibition conies to pass. They are not likely to do that, however, for they mistrust that prohibition can be brought about in any such way. What an excessive number of drinking places really will result in will be legislation favored by the liquor traffic and the public alike to limit the number by law. That result would be quite different from having a dry State, but might be an tions with Africa. Mrs.

We had assumed that these hoboes' camps, since they are in sach disrepute, had been permanently banned, but doubtless they spring up again from time to time. Both county and local officials should see to it that they are not permitted to continue once they are located. The transients ought to be forced to move of prestige because their dictators can speak and act for them, without having to consult anyone at all. The speaker went on to say that this country ought to "rise up as one man" and speak out on matters of international importance. That sounds well and good, but in practice when the President, who is the appointed leader of the nation, speaks out, immediately a lot of other voices are heard, trying to his authority.

Thoughtful and patriotic people deprecate such attitude of disunion. When former Governor and Presidential Nominee Landon was appointed to attend the Lima Conference as a member of the U. More recently former President Hoover, an internationalist of renown, saw fit to openly criticise the government's foreign policy on the issue of aid to democracies. As a result the dictatorships through their press organs cited Mr. Hoover's speech as proof that the President no longer speaks for the American people, I Not so long ago the issue of "save the Constitution" was being overworked in connection with the federal court reform proposal of President Roosevelt, Reminiscent of that fight is the reference in the President's letter to Judge Roberts, this week, in which he says: "Perhaps the rejection of your nomination will have a good effect on the citizenship and the thinking of the whole nation in that it will tend to create a greater interest in the Constitution of our country, a greater Jeremiah W.
