Mr. Ballachino was the widower of Rita I. Ballachino. He was a retired employee of the Kulp-Waco Co. and a retired Teamster of Local 449, both of Buffalo, N.Y.

An Army veteran of World War Il, he served with the 38th Infantry Division, Company and in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Ballachino was a member of St. Katharine Drexel. Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg, VFW Post 477 in Carlisle, Mechanicsburg Senior Adult Center the Carlisle Family YMCA.

He is survived by three stepdaughters, Marian W. McCoy of Carlisle, Kathleen R. Totoiu of Camp Hill and Joanne T. Head of Neodesha, a son, Ronald A. Ballachino; a daugh- ter, Diane M.

Kearney; a brother, Vincent Ballachino of West Valley, N. two sisters, Margaret Brown of Westminster, and Grace Bart of Wisconsin: 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 1 Peter Drive, Mechanicsburg, with the Rev.

Stephen Weitzel as celebrant. Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Malpezzi Funeral Home, 8. Market Plaza Way, Mechanicsburg.

Binger Loy E. Binger, 81, of Main Street, Blain, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, in Carlisle Regional Medical Center. Born Oct. 30.

1923, in Charles City, Iowa, he was a son of the late Fred D. and Nellie (Bistline) Binger. Mr. Binger was a graduate of Blain Vocational School and a retired farmer. He was a school bus contractor and bus driver for more than 55 years.

He was a past tax collector for Jackson Township, a former Jackson Township supervisor and was formerly employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He was a consistory member of Blain Zion United Church of Christ and a past Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the Executive Democratic Committee, a member of Blain Lodge 706, IOOF, since 1948 and a member and past president of the Blain Lions Club since 1958. He also was a member of the Blain Fire Co. the Blain Ambulance Club, the Blain Fairview Hunting Camp and the Blain Sportsman's Club.

He was a former member of Adams Lodge 319 in New Bloomfield and a former school board member of the Blain Vocational School. Mr. Binger is survived by his wife, Ruby M. (Adair) Binger; a daughter, Mitzi Mae Nace of Landisburg; two sons, Loy Richard Binger of Elliottsburg and Patrick Adair Binger of Carlisle; a brother, Kermit Binger of Loysville; two sisters, L. Jean Kessler and Joan Adair, both of Blain; five grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.

Services will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Nickel Funeral Home, 3626 Shermans Valley Road, Loysville, with the Rev. Robert Koch and the Rev. Malcolm E. Martin officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice. Douglas Wayne Hardy Douglas Wayne Hardy, 39, of Joelton, and formerly of Boiling Springs died Monday, Oct. 18.

2004, in Missouri, the result of a traffic accident. Born Feb. 23, 1965, in Lima, Ohio, he was a son of Floyd and Patricia (Sparks) Hardy of Boiling Springs. Mr. Hardy was a 1984 graduate of Cumberland Valley High School and was employed by Crown Equipment Co.

Edward Lee Brackbill Edward Lee Brackbill, 66, of Mechanicsburg died Saturday, Nov.

13. 2004, in Holy Spirit Hospital. Born April 10, 1938, in Carlisle, he was the son of the late Vance and Mary (Barley) Brackbill. Mr. Brackbill was a 1957 graduate of Cumberland Valley High School and a lifelong dairy farmer.

2, 1918, in Shade Township, Somerset County, he was a son of the late William T. and Margaret (Kinzey) Umberger. Mr. Umberger was a graduate of Stoystown High School and was employed for 27 years with the Wilson Freight Forwarding Trucking Co. as a dispatcher and supervisor in Everett, Somerset, New Stanton and Carlisle, until his retirement.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a Boatswain's Mate, Second Class Seabee. During his military service he was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal. Mr. Umberger was a lifetime member of VFW Post 554, Somerset and a lifetime member of Everett American Legion Post 8. Clair G.

Umberger, 86, of Carlisle and formerly of Somerset, Everett and Swede Hill, died Saturday, He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Mr. Umberger is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pauline (Plovish) Umberger, whom he married Dec. 12, 1948, in Hooverville; three sons, Paul Plovish of Everett, Barry Umberger of Carlisle and Allen Umberger of North Huntingdon; a daughter, Sandi Sherba of Derry; five granddaughters; a grandson; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Umberger; a brother, Victor Umberger; and a sister, Melda Greathouse.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Dalla Valle Funeral Chapel, 22 W. Main Everett, with the Rev. Curtis Bryant officiating.

Burial with military honors conducted by the Everett Honor Guard, will be in Schellsburg Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. Wednesday, until time of services in the chapel.

William L. Shughart Raymond D. Heckmon Raymond D. Heckmon, 88, of and a brother, G. Milton Heck- 6 Mooreland Mt.

Holly Springs, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, in his home. Born Aug. 8, 1916, he was a son of the late Charles J. and Sarah J.

(George) Heckmon. Mr. Heckmon was a retired farmer, a member of Barnitz United Methodist Church and an avid reader. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maxine R. Heckmon; three sons, James W.

Heckmon of Gardners, Gary D. Heckmon of Estacada, and C. Mark Heckmon of Woodstock, four grandsons; and two greatgrandsons. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rhoda E. Heckmon mon.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Hollinger Funeral Home and Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Mt. Holly Springs, with the Rev. John H.

Kratz officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the home.

Dorothy Metzger Dorothy Metzger, 81, of 595 Biglerville Road, Gettysburg, and formerly of Carlisle died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, in Green Acres Adams County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Gettysburg. Born April 11, 1923, in Harrisburg, she was a daughter of the late Morris W. and Hannah (Keys) Metzger.

Ms. Metzger enjoyed playing bingo. She is survived by two brothers, Harry A. Metzger of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Donald L. Metzger of Carlisle; a sister, June Morris of Dillsburg: and several nieces and nephews.

Ms. Metzger was preceded in death by four brothers, Jack, Fred, Pete and Claude Metzger, and a sister, Shirley Hockenberry. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle. Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m.

13, 2004, in Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg. Born Jan. 24, 1914, in Des Moines, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Clara (Christenson) Riley. Mrs. Rosenberry was the widow of the Rev.

John L. Rosenberry. They were married 51 years. She and her late husband provided pastoral care for the Brethren in Christ congregations of Altoona, Green Spring and Belleville. She also played the organ and piano.

Mrs. Rosenberry was a member of the Manheim Brethren in Christ Church and enjoyed cooking. She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen R. Mayes of Coral Gables, two sons, John L. Rosenberry Jr.

of Manheim and Carl L. Rosenberry of Holland, Ohio; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Messiah Village Chapel, 100 Mt. Allen Drive, Mechanicsburg.

Police Boys removed from school, charged Two teenage boys were removed from school and petitioned to juvenile court on disorderly conduct charges after they allegedly threw things in class, yelled obscenities and threatened teachers and students. Police in Carlisle removed the 13- and 14-year-old boys from the Capital Area Intermediate Unit in the 400 block of Franklin Street at 3 p.m. Tuesday after teachers and principals said they spent several hours trying to calm them down with no cooperation.

The boys were taken into custody and released to family members. Teens injured when car hits house Several Millerstown youths were injured Friday in a one-car accident along Old Ferry Road in Liverpool Township. State police at Newport say Alison Sarver, 16, was driving a 1996 Audi north at 4:18 p.m. when the car left the road, struck a utility pole and continued through a yard, striking a stump and a house owned by Mary and Richard Smith. Sarver and passenger Katie Hodge, 15, suffered moderate injuries, police say, while passengers Cody Yohn, age unavailable, and Zack Sarver, 14, was seriously hurt.

All were wearing seatbelts, police say. All were transported by Millerstown, Liverpool and Newport ambulances for treatment of their injuries. Women cited after Nov. 2 fight Three Carlisle women were cited by Carlisle Police after an investigation of a Nov. 2 fight in the 100 block of Street.

Police say Tracy Failor, 31, Lisa Christopher, 53, and Jennifer Jumper, 32, got into the fight in at 2:54 p.m. after "obscenities and racial comments had been made." Both Failor and Christopher were charged with disorderly conduct. Police charged Jumper with harassment after witnesses told them she struck and kicked Failor after she was separated from Christopher by several neighbors. Woman injured when truck hits van A Mt. Holly Springs woman was injured when her minivan was rear-ended by a pickup truck Monday along Route 34 between Marsh Drive and Lindsay Lane in South Middleton Township.

Deborah Swartz, 51, was taken to the Carlisle Regional Medical Center where she was treated and released for minor injuries suffered in the 8 a.m. crash, police and hospital sources say. State police in Carlisle say Thomas Dorsey, 19, of Mt. Holly Springs was driving a 1988 Dodge north on Route 34 behind Swartz, who was driving a 1997 Dodge. Swartz stopped her vehicle between Marsh Drive and Lindsay Lane because the vehicle in front of her was turning left but Dorsey allegedly failed to stop in time and rear-ended her vehicle, police say.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts and Dorsey was not injured. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. Girl cited for marijuana possession State police in Newport charged a 13-year-old girl with possession of a small amount of marijuana Nov. 10. Police say marijuana was found on her around 7:50 a.m.

while she was at the West Perry Middle School between Route 274 and 74 in Spring Township.
