Thursday B2 -The Sentinel For the Record June 26, 2003 William 'Pete' 'Bill' H. Spahr William "Pete" "Bill" H. Spahr, 74, of 109 Beagle Club Road, Middlesex Township, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, in Carlisle Regional Medical Center. Born Nov. 5, 1928, in Enola, he was a son of the late Ralph L.

and Mabel (Endy) Spahr. Mr. Spahr served in 'the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from Robert Mumma's Kimbob Inc. after 25 years of service as a heavy equipment operator.

He was a member for 30 years of the International Union of Operating Engineers 542. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Shirley M. (Hill) Spahr; three daughters, Cynthia Dennis Larry Dennis Larry "Moon" Mullins, 62, of C.M.E., Lot 124, in Lower Mifflin Township, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at his home. Born Aug. 13, 1940, in Pound, he was a son of E.

Irene (Niece) Mullins of York and the late Ivan D. Mullins. A 1959 graduate of Big Spring High School in Newville, he retired from John F. Walters Excavating Co. in Newville after 38 years of service.

He was a member of Carlisle Eagles Aerie 1299, a member of American Legion Post 641 in Newville and the Big Spring Fish and Game Association. Mr. Mullins is survived by his mother; his wife of five years, Sandra K. (Horn) Mullins; a son, Larry E. Mullins of Carlisle; a daughter, Kimberly A.

Bitner of Carlisle; a stepson, Shawn M. A. Free of Federal Way, Connie M. Goerlitz of York and Cathy L. Rhine of Newville; a stepson, Lester W.

Britton of Carlisle; a stepdaughter, Bonnie L. Britton of Carlisle; 12 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover Carlisle, with Rev.

Robert L. Stauffer officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, West Pennsboro Township. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

'Moon' Mullins Morrow of Carlisle; a stepdaughter, Traci L. Halter of Carlisle; a half-brother, William Stanley of Georgia; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Roy L. Mullins. Funeral services will be held at 1:45 p.m.

Friday, in Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover Carlisle, with the Rev. D. Alan Mathna officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, North Middleton Township.

(Myers) Straw, 76, of Forest Park Nursing Home, Carlisle, and formerly of Dillsburg, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, in Carlisle Regional Medical Center. Born Aug. 1, 1926, in Wellsville, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Lottie (Bentz) Myers and the widow of John M. Straw. She is survived by two sons, Dennis R.

and Randy both of Dillsburg; a daughter, Susanne V. Berkheimer of Wellsville; her brother, Wilford Myers of Camarillo, two sisters, Ruthanna Lerew of St. Petersburg, and Lecreita Harbold of Wellsville; five grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cocklin Funeral Home, 30 N.

Chestnut Dillsburg, with the Rev. Golden A. Gaither officiating. Burial will be in the Dillsburg Cemetery, Mountain Road. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Monaghan Presbyterian Church, PO Box 318, Dillsburg, PA 17019. Carl W. Baker Carl W. Baker, 78, of Two West Penn, Carlisle, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, in Carlisle. Born March 22, 1925, in Carlisle, he was a son of the late Boyd C.

and Carrie (Wickey) Baker. He was a carpenter for Dean Ellerman and was employed at Dickinson College as a maintenance worker. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. Mr.

Baker is survived by three nephews, Lester Fuls of Carlisle, Jack Fuls of Shiloh and Paul Thayer of Pametto, Fla. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Katherine Baker, Rodessa Thayer, Helen Wood, Ethel Fuls, and a brother, Robert Baker. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover Carlisle, with the Rev.

Born Feb. 12, 1921, in West Pennsboro Township, Cumberland County, she was the daughter of the late George and Bertha (Mentzer) Brownawell and the widow of Bruce H. Lay. Mrs. Lay is survived by two daughters, Bertha Beidel Ann Mahoney, both of Carlisle; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover Carlisle, with the Rev. Howard A. Kerstetter officiating.

Man in critical condition A Boiling Springs man was flown to Hershey Medical Center with critical injuries Wednesday following a motorcycle-car collision along the 200 block of Hempt Road in Silver Spring Township. Silver Spring police say Brent Franklin Miller, 21, was driving a 2002 Suzuki Katana 600 north when a 2001 Chevrolet Camaro being driven by Robert E. Wilbur, 66, of Mechanicsburg, pulled out of a private driveway. The motorcycle collided with the driver's side of the Camaro in the 9:10 p.m.

accident. Miller suffered serious injuries and was flown to Hershey Medical Center. A spokesman for the hospital said Miller was in critical condition this morning. Wilbur was not injured. Police say the accident remains under investigation.

Man charged for threats Charges of terroristic threats and harassment have been filed against Donnie Gene Conner, 25, of Gardners after he allegedly struck a woman in the face twice during an argument at a residence in the 200 block of Balltown Road, Huntington Township. Police say Conner also threatened Cora Ann Turner, 25, with a compound bow as she left the home with her small children. Middlesex Police say they found Nicholos Nescio, 19, of the 400 block of Gleen Avenue, Boiling Springs, unconscious on the ground when they responded Monday night to a call to the Middlesex Diner. Ryan Hoffman-Smith, 19, of the first block of Arlington Drive, Carlisle, was with Nescio and police say both had been drinking. According to police, Nescio attempted to get into Hoffman's vehicle when he fell, hitting his face and losing consciousness.

Nescio was taken to Carlisle Regional Medical Center for treatment. He has since been released. Motorcycle helmet stolen Carlisle police say an expensive motorcycle helmet was stolen Tuesday off a Harley Davidson parked in the Carlisle Commons parking lot. Brandon Enck, 24, told police he left the helmet unsecured on his motorcycle's cissy bar while at the movies. Valued at $485, the helmet is described as a Shoei RF8 that has a royal flush of spades air brushed on the sides.

The helmet was taken between 9:45 and 11:45 p.m. Truck stolen from dealer A pickup truck was reported stolen from Cockrell's Auto Sales in the 800 block of West Trindle Road, Monroe Township, sometime between Sunday night and 7 a.m. Monday. The truck is described as a 1989 maroon and black Chevy short-bed 4X4. Hit-and-run in parking lot Carlisle Borough police are investigating a hitand-run accident Monday in the parking lot of the Medical Arts Building of the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.

Joann Sollenberger told police she parked her 2000 Oldsmobile at 6:30 a.m. and went into work. When she returned around 6:32 p.m., she found someone had hit her vehicle causing moderate damage to the front bumper, partially knocking it off, police say. Her vehicle was driveable. Police say no one was seen near her vehicle and there were no witnesses to this accident.

Motorcycle hits fire truck A Harrisburg man was injured Sunday after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a fire truck in the parking lot of the Empire Fire Department in the first block of South West Street, Carlisle. Borough police say officers responded at 2:41 p.m. to a report of a minor accident. Christopher Charles Mowry told police he had been sitting on a 2001 Kawaski 600 ZX Ninja motorcycle, trying to learn how the clutch worked, when he let go of the clutch lever. The motorcycle drove forward and crashed into the passenger side of the Emergency-1 fire truck which was parked in the north lot outside the bay doors, police say.

Mowry told police he banged his left knee and that it was starting to swell but he was not going to the hospital for it. Carlisle, PA 17013 You're in good hands. 717-243-4400 School property damaged Someone drove onto Dickinson Elementary School property sometime between 2:30 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Monday and caused $100 in damage by spinning a vehicle in circles in a field at the school. Items stolen from truck Raymond Findling of Washington, reported several items stolen from his 1976 GMC pickup truck while it was parked Sunday in the CRST Regional Van parking lot in South Middleton Township.

A stereo, CB, scanner, three amps, circular saw, 13-inch combo and miscellaneous tools were reported stolen. Man cited for phone calls A Carlisle man has been cited after he allegedly made harassing phone calls within 20 minutes of being warned to stop the calls by Carlisle Police. Police say Jeff Detwiler reported on Sunday that he was receiving harassing phone calls from Jeff Dull. Dull allegedly left five harassing messages on Detweiler's voice mail. Police contacted Dull at 1:45 p.m.

Sunday and told him he would be cited for harassment if the calls continued. By 2:05 p.m., Dull allegedly had called Detweiler's cell phone two more times. 2 arrested after break-in Mechanicsburg Police arrested two men after they allegedly forced their way into the ground floor of an apartment building in the first block of West Main Street about 11 p.m. Thursday night and began beating on apartment doors. Police arrested Zachariah Baker, 19, of Mechanicsburg and John Stoner 21, of Enola after witnesses identified them.

Stoner allegedly was carrying two switchblade knives. Both were charged with criminal trespass, conspiracy, and disorderly conduct. Baker also was charged underage drinking. Stoner was charged with public drunkenness and two counts possession of prohibited offensive weapons. Both were taken to Cumberland County Prison where Stoner remained Wednesday morning.

Baker was released after posting bail. A hearing is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. June 30 at District Justice Gayle Elder's office. Tractor-trailer catches fire A tractor-trailer driving south through Silver Spring Township on Interstate 81 caught fire Tuesday afternoon. Police say the rear tandems of a truck driven by Melvin Iteriano of New York caught fire and Iteriano pulled to the side of the highway.

The rear of the tractor and the first third of the trailer were destroyed. Because the rig was hauling residential trash, PennDOT and Department of Environmental Protection were notified. Silver Spring and East Pennsboro fire departments responded to the blaze. 3 charged with harassment State police say three people were cited for harassment for a verbal and physical argument that broke out in a Shippensburg Township residence. Police were called to the Town Mills Trailer Court in Shippensburg Township shortly before noon on June 10.

Cited were Curtis Alleman, 25, and Cindy Alleman, 24, both of Shippensburg, and Amanda Benson, 18, Mercersburg. Guns, other items stolen Six guns and other items were stolen from: home in the 2900 block of Shippensburg Road, Southampton Township, state police at Carlisle say. The guns include a rifle, two shotguns, a muzzleloader and two handguns. Police report burglars also took ammunition, a 35 mm camera and two helmets from the home of David Pittman sometime between 5:30 a.m and 6:15 p.m. June 16.

The guns and other items were valued at $3,510. Man charged with assault State police at Chambersburg say a Chambersburg man struck a woman in the mouth Wednesday. Esh Gearhart allegedly struck June Gearhart at 7 p.m. at a residence along the 200 block of Jade Drive. Esh Gearhart was arrested and charged with simple assault.
