HOTLINE! 1-888-BUY-BILO Police Child accidentally started house blaze A 3-year-old child who was playing with matches or a lighter set a fire that caused $70,000 in damage to a Perry County home Thursday, police said.

Trooper Richard Geedey of state police at Newport said the 10 a.m. fire at 115 Barnett Drive, Duncannon, did considerable damage but did not destroy the home owned by Christopher Alburger and also occupied by Chastity Mackert. Police said the blaze was apparently set in the living room by Ms. Mackert's son. The kitchen also was damaged by smoke and water.

Ms. Mackert said she was unable to call for help because she could not reenter the Penn Township home while the fire was in progress. Texas Eastern employee Dung Nguyen, who was working nearby at the time of the blaze, saw the fire and doused the flames with an extinguisher from his work vehicle before Perdix Fire Company arrived to take over. No injuries were reported in the blaze at the one-story wood rancher. Fire company officials called in state police to investigate and determine the fire's cause.

Ms. Holmes was arrested in the 200 block of South Hanover Street at 9:30 p.m. She is charged with criminal attempt prostitution and felony prostitution. She was arraigned before District Justice Tom Placey and bail was set at $7,500. She was placed in Cumberland County Prison.

In September 1998, Ms. Holmes was placed on 12 months probation from Cumberland County Court after a guilty plea on a prostitution charge.
